The Karad city police have registered a case against 17 individuals, including two Pune-based doctors, for allegedly operating a private pathology laboratory that issued diagnostic reports without conducting or supervising any tests, raising serious concerns about patient safety and medical malpractice. The action followed a complaint filed by a local pathologist, who has been running a legitimate pathology laboratory in Karad since 2006. According to the police, the accused laboratory was issuing blood and urine test reports bearing the name, scanned signature, and credentials of a qualified pathologist, despite the doctor neither being physically present nor affiliated with the laboratory.
