Surgeons in one of the hospitals in Chennai, India, have accomplished a dramatic, life-saving neurosurgical feat by removing a screwdriver that had penetrated deep into the brain of a 33-year-old businessman. The patient, arrived at the emergency department after an assault left the tool lodged in the right side of his skull an injury experts describe as extremely rare and potentially fatal without immediate surgical intervention. Though conscious at admission, he showed early signs of neurological deterioration.

A CT scan revealed that the screwdriver had pierced a crucial motor region responsible for movement on the left side of the body, lying dangerously close to major blood vessels.
