Scientists are developing a new class of drug that may help bones to heal faster and better just stimulating the stem cells to divide and differentiate into more bone cells. Fracture of bone is one of the most common forms of injury and can occur either due to accident or owing to age-related issues. With growing incidence of osteoarthritic problems, the need for replacement surgeries is also on a rise. Most of the fractures heal on its own, but 10% of them take too long to heal or do not heal at all and needs surgical intervention including amputation.

This in turn increases the duration of hospitalization, healthcare cost and surgery-related complication for patients.
