The National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS) has been launched in Abu Dhabi under the Ministry of Community Development. UAE residents will now have NMSS dedicated to improving the quality of life of individuals affected by multiple sclerosis , which affects 28 million people globally. In the UAE, around 2000 people were diagnosed with MS as of 2022, with the actual figures expected to be double the reported.
The society is investing in a national MS registry to gain a better understanding of the characteristics and prevalence of the disease in the country and ensure relevant changes.
