There is a long list of diseases, accidents, incidents, untoward/uncommon and suspicious signs and symptoms which fall into the category of Medico-Legal cases. Such patients are handled as MLC cases in every Hospital / Nursing Home /Clinic simultaneously along with treatment. My query is whether patients or their attendants can refuse to co-operate, the moment they come to know that hospital authorities are going to intimate to the Civil Police regarding their case.
Can an Affidavit/ Declaration produced in this regard by NOK or Attendants that there is nothing foul or wrong and injuries or disease has occurred naturally/ accidentally be of any help or safeguard for the hospital authorities later in case of the contrary outcome? Should we entertain or encourage such a thing in our profession! Please opine!
