Liver disease refers to any condition that prevents the liver from functioning normally and includes non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, hepatitis C, and hepatitis B, which can be caused by infections, genetic conditions, or misuse of alcohol. The treatment of the liver disease depends on the type of the disease and may include medication and avoiding substance abuse, while advanced cases may call for a transplant. Despite the advances in treatment modalities for liver disease, it continues to account for approximately 2 million deaths per year worldwide, highlighting the need to focus on newer and better ways to prevent the condition.
