Being involved in the healthcare, the residents work under continuous stressful conditions. The work pressure, long working hours, continuous shifts requires multi-tasking. In recent few years, many cases of suicide or attempted suicide have been reported in the institute. Some residents are already attending sessions with mental health experts, says vice-president of AIIMS RDA.
In this regard, the residents from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences have written to their director of the institute demanding recruitment of counselors for them. They demanded at least five counseling psychologists and a 24-hour helpline number to ensure mental well-being of the residents. What are your views about this demand of AIIMS doctors?
