Around 28,000 children under age of five die due to diarrhea and the 95% of this death can be averted in Uttar Pradesh (UP). They can be treated by giving ORS and zinc therapy.

The fourth National Family Health Survey in UP showed diarrhea treatment success rate about 37% and 12% with the use of ORS and zinc therapy, respectively. Still, the awareness about life-saving treatments is very low.
