The Union Health Ministry of India reported that more than 21,000 and 5,500 people, after receiving the 1 st and 2 nd dose, respectively, have tested positive for COVID-19. What could be the reason for vaccinated people contracting the virus? According to the Lancet COVID-19 Commission India Task Force report, people are more likely susceptible to COVID-19 immediately after getting vaccinated. The reason could be either due to non-adherence to safety protocols after getting vaccinated or low immunity.
Based on the above observations, the following recommendations were made by the task force: An emphasis should be made on wearing masks and following the COVID-19 safety protocols even after getting vaccinated.
