Coronavirus outbreak (SARS-COV-2) has posed an unprecedented challenge for the healthcare community across the world. Evidence suggests that pre-existing cardiovascular disease may adversely affect the clinical outcome of COVID-19 patients. Considering this, an appropriate understanding of the interplay between these two diseases is a prerequisite to identify potential therapeutic options in such patients. Also, in a recent study, an SGLT-2 inhibitor, Dapagliflozin has shown a reduction in heart failure (HF) events and cardiovascular death in elderly patients with and without type 2 diabetes. Moreover, the benefits of Dapagliflozin were consistent regardless of background treatment for HF.
