Because of several factors the disease nowadays occurs in children at a very young age. Additionally, the disease progresses with age, leading to subsequent retinal complications such as retinal degeneration. This issue can be effectively tackled with atropine, a drug that effectively slows down the progression of myopia by bringing about a 50%-60% reduction in the disease progression.
