A Recent issue of Lancet discusses why Indian doctors are being attacked and hijacked (a recent issue of hijack in Kerala on a case of hemiplegic migraine). Really funny to see the various opinions. One doctor was quoted saying, people are getting knowledgeable and thats why they dont want to have any compromise on quality. Second thing he highlighted is the cost factor. As far as I know Indian healthcare system is one among the lowest cost system in the world and we have the best bet in our lot of healthcare science.
This is like closing your eyes, turning your head away from the real reasons. The real reasons are manifold. I would like to point out two things, first and foremost is CPA making people greedy and utilise any loopholes against doctor to suit him along with jousting habit of doctors and the comptetition between hospitals adding fuel to fire.
