Laryngo-pharyngeal reflux  is a condition characterised by backflow of acid gastric contents into the upper aero-digestive tract. The condition presents as a cough, lump sensation in the throat, sore throat, frequent throat clearing, heartburn, wheezing, blocked sensation in ears. Diagnosis  is made from thorough history, careful physical examination.

Though laryngoscopic findings are sometimes nonspecific empirical treatment with PPI should be started & the response monitored after some time. Fibre optic laryngoscopy may help to exclude cancer in patients presenting with similar symptoms & save many lives.
