About 30 years ago, I had to face a big enquiry for improper conduct with a patient, on whom I had shouted due to uncontrolled irritation. I had offered to be punished if found guilty, as per service rules . The way I narrated the sequence of events leading to loss of temper, I was declared justified for the episode but with a remark or advice that a doctor should never loose his temper in any circumstances.Since then, I have followed this one principle and avoided a lot of trouble in a professional career. What are the behavior norms for medical personnel ? Are these clearly described anywhere ?
