Coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) is a surgical procedure used to improve the circulation of the coronary artery by grafting a healthy blood vessel to the blocked coronary artery, thereby bypassing it. Nearly 1 million people undergo CABG. Different blood vessels like the saphenous veins and the thoracic artery can be used for the grafts. Bilateral internal thoracic artery grafts (BITA) have gradually emerged as the preferred alternative to other types of grafts used in CABG due to their several advantages, such as freedom from arteriosclerosis, better long-term patency, and increased survival rate.
