Delivery of Nano-sized, platinum-based chemotherapy drugs to treat a form of bladder cancer has been developed by researchers. These small drug infused Nanoparticles were found to be less toxic than the standard chemotherapy delivered intravenously or by catheter. A research study based on this was carried out. A team of researchers engineered biologically compatible Nanoparticles where the chemotherapy drug Cisplatin was used being the first line treatment for human bladder cancer.
Laboratory tests for animal models with bladder cancer showed that when administered through catheter directly there was reduction in proliferation of cancer cells.
