The Calcutta High Court has quashed criminal proceedings against a Kolkata-based gynecologist who was accused of medical negligence after a newborn sustained a scalp injury during a cesarean delivery at a hospital in Alipore. After reviewing the medical records, the findings of the West Bengal Medical Council, and the circumstances of the case, the court concluded that the injury was an inadvertent complication that was appropriately managed and did not amount to criminal negligence.
