A 60 years old critically ill patient was under treatment in a private hospital. Attendants requested doctors to discharge the patient. Doctor refused as patient needed further treatment but attendants took patient against medical advice (LAMA). At home, they considered patient died and when they were taking him for last rites, he was found having sweating. Another doctor was consulted who said patient is alive.
Attendants accused hospital for medical negligence. But treatment record showed patient as LAMA. Query:- Is charge of medical negligence relevant? What is your opinion? What is the proper way of documentation of LAMA?
