Cardiac transthyretin amyloidosis (CTA) progresses to fatal heart failure from the abnormal build-up of plasma transthyretin. No therapy has reversed the progression till date. However, a study reports unprecedented spontaneous CTA reversal in three males above the age of 60. Patients were not recently vaccinated, nor had any notable signs of infections, or myocarditis. The symptom reversal was corroborated by normalized blood tests , echocardiography, cardiopulmonary exercise tests findings.
Additionally, near-complete regression of myocardial extracellular volume and near-normal cardiac structure and function without scarring was found.
