Certain individuals such as people >65 years of age, with heart disease, and pregnant women are at the high risk of experiencing flu-related complications. Reportedly, heart failure patients are more vulnerable to flu complications than others. Thus, a recent study has examined the effect of flu vaccination on the survival rate of heart failure patients. The results indicated a 19% decrease in cardiovascular and all-cause of mortality in those heart failure patients who had received an annual flu shot.

Researchers have also found a reduction in cardiovascular death in heart patients who had received the vaccine at the starting of flu season. Thus, Influenza vaccination may have a beneficial effect on the lifespan of heart patients. Source: Medical News Today
