Meningitis is an Inflammation of the membranes (meninges) of the brain & spinal cord. Most of the cases of this meningitis are of viral origin, but bacterial or fungal infection are also other causes of meningitis. Some cases are mild & go off it own without treatment in a few weeks, while on another hand, other cases are life threatening & requires an emergency intervention.
