Obesity in women is associated with various risk factors like diabetes and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). It subsequently leads to a reduction in fertility rates and an increased risk of carcinomas. Overweight women with PCOS tend to develop insulin resistance and are prone to diabetes, particularly later in life. All these issues make the treatment of infertility more complicated and less successful.
