A District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in South Delhi has cleared a private super speciality hospital in New Delhi of medical negligence allegations in the treatment of a 14-year-old girl who presented with recurrent abdominal pain, while holding the insurer liable for deficiency in service over procedural lapses. The case dates back to 2017 when the minor was admitted to the private hospital in Delhi with a history of abdominal pain lasting around one and a half months along with a past history of typhoid. She was evaluated by a consultant pediatric gastroenterologist and a consultant pediatric surgeon and later referred to a consultant psychiatrist.
