An orthopedic surgeon at a Delhi hospital has successfully conducted the country’s lightest bilateral hip replacement surgery on a 65-year-old female patient weighing only 23 kg. The patient was bedridden for the last two years due to severe arthritis. The orthopedic surgeon recommended her to undergo hip replacement surgery . However, her conditions, such as severely osteoporotic bones , extremely low body weight, and small bone size, made the surgery challenging.

Nevertheless, the surgeon performed two separate minimally invasive surgeries on the patient in an hour. The successful surgery enabled the patient to walk with a walker the following day.
