Dengue fever is an emerging public health concern in tropical and subtropical countries. As per WHO, the estimated annual global burden of dengue is approximately 390 million per year, of which 96 million manifests clinically, with nearly 20 thousand deaths. India contributes to 34% of total dengue cases worldwide.
As per the surveillance data of the National Vector Borne Disease Control Program, a total of 6,83,545 dengue cases and 2,576 deaths were reported in India between 2009–2017.
