Apparently, a healthy 2.5-year boy with no significant family history is having a moderate fever for last 1 & half month. Serial investigation revealed WBCs 13000, N 85, CRP120 and 108, ESR 34, Hb between 7 to 8, Retics 0.5. microcytic hypochromic. No premature cells were seen. RPT CBC till date is almost same. And on hematinic Hb improved to 8.8. In 15 days, platelet is 4,853 and now 4.62 lacs/ml. Various oral and parenteral antibiotics were given but fever drill diurnally peaking up to 103 F. Typhoid, malaria UTI and BL c/s are negative.
Now off the antibiotic for 5 days. In between fever, a child was all right. Appetite good, no vomiting, nausea or loose stool yet. No swelling or redness of any joints. No pain at any site.
