This article reports the study which determined the incidence of diabetic retinopathy (DR), sight-threatening diabetic retinopathy (SRDR) and diabetic macular edema (DMO) in type I and type II diabetes mellitus patients in a screening program. This study is a nine-year follow-up study where all the participants were matched for their age, other epidemiological factors, other comorbidities etc. Diabetes is a chronic disease which is progressive in nature. Additionally, both types of diabetes, type I and type II can induce several complications.
