In Jharkhand, doctors protested on Sunday against the leave system that has been introduced by the state this month. According to this new leave system, doctors posted in rural areas would have to seek leave from ‘mukhiyas’ (village heads). In addition, the mukhiyas will have the power to mark the attendance of doctors and teachers. Understandably, the new system has not gone down well with the doctors working in rural areas. To object this new system, more than 600 doctors under the Jharkhand Health Services Association (JHSA) took out a protest march on Sunday.
