A 2025 systematic review and meta-analysis compared Rapid Rhino (RR) and Merocel across both primary and post-surgical epistaxis. Drawing from 51 high-quality studies screened from over 4600 citations, the analysis demonstrated that RR consistently resulted in significantly lower pain scores during pack removal in both clinical scenarios. While narrative data suggested improved hemostasis and patient comfort with RR, pooled meta-analytic outcomes revealed no statistically significant differences in rebleeding requiring repacking. Pain reduction emerged as the only robust, reproducible advantage of RR over Merocel.
