The risk of many cancers increases with the increasing age but is there any correlation of having more cells in the body to the risk of developing cancer. The answer to this is yes, according to an evolutionary biologist, taller individuals are at greater risk of developing cancer. A recent study evaluated the data collected from four large-scale surveillance projects including 23 cancer types. The data from these studies suggest that taller individuals are more vulnerable to the development of cancer.
Their risk of developing cancer increases by about 10% per 10 cm (4 inches) increase in height. The study tested the hypothesis that height increases cell number and risk of cancer increases with increase in the number the number of cells.
