One-month-old baby tested positive for dengue infection has surprised doctors in Pune. According to them, children less than a year get protected against dengue through maternal antibodies.

Baby’s platelet count reached 14000 (normal value 1.5-4.5 lakh) while IgG antibody was found negative and dengue was confirmed by ELISA test. As per paediatrician, the baby was treated with Intravenous Fluid and other supportive treatment, as active bleeding or organ dysfunction wasn’t seen.
