Synopsis Loss of bone mass due to persistently low levels of the hormone estrogen is a significant etiology of osteoporosis. Ninety percent of bone mass is developed in the 18 age of a female. However, due to eating disorders, lack of physical activity, or other health issues females suffers from bone mass deficits leading to osteoporosis in later life.
