The UAE Healthy Future Study organized by the New York University, Abu Dhabi, will now allow the participation of the Emiratis, aged between 18-40 years, in long-term health studies. Around 20,000 Emiratis will be enrolled in the study by March 2021. The aim of the study is to identify the causes of non-communicable diseases in the region. The enrollment for this study will be beginning in October this year.
The study was initially launched in the year 2017 and has already revealed higher rates of hypercholesteremia in the participants from Abu Dhabi. However, the prevalence rate of diabetes and hypertension in this population was found to be as high as the expected rate.
