Although tuberculosis (TB) is a preventable and curable disease, it is the second leading infectious killer after COVID-19. According to the WHOβs estimation, about 10.6 million people were affected by TB, and 1.3 million died due to TB worldwide in 2022. Multidrug-resistant TB, TB among HIV patients, patients lacking adequate care, and funding gaps in executing TB interventions and research are the major global challenges in preventing TB. Nevertheless, the United Nations has set a goal to end the TB epidemic by 2030.
