Indian Medical Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has released a National Essential Diagnostic List- open for comments and discussions- with a prime objective to standardize the quality of diagnostics and control the pricing. The number of essential diagnostic tests will vary from primary to tertiary health centers depending on the number of patients and the complexities of the cases being handled by them. The ICMR and the Central Drug Standards Control Organisation (CDSCO) will finalize the list after January 31, 2019.

Implementation of this list appears to be an important step to provide good healthcare delivery and improve patient outcomes. Source: Deccan Herald
