The European Union and India announced a joint of Rs. 240 crore research projects to develop a next-generation influenza vaccine. Both the EU and Government of India also committed to giving Euro 15 million funds each to develop a Next Generation influenza vaccine to protect citizens worldwide For this project Government of India and European Union joint under an ongoing plan called “Horizon 2020”. The aim of this is to develop a cost-effective and affordable influenza vaccine without compromising the quality.

This Programme helps countries to fight during an event of a pandemic. Further EU Ambassador stated that this joint call is another demonstration of the increased cooperation between the EU and India, as committed by the leaders during the Summit in October 2017. Source: The Economic Times
