The concussions occurring in sports is a common phenomenon in the tenure of a sportsperson. But the level of concussion determines the health and well being which can range from mild to moderate to severe; and hence the time taken for the recovery. In general terms, concussion is a mild traumatic brain injury. This article provides insights into the evaluation and management of concussion based on the parameters given by the Guideline Development Subcommittee of the American Academy of Neurology. This guideline is an update of the evidence based studies conducted in the period of 1955 to 2012.
