FDA has approved a first device (Light Adjustable Lens and Light Delivery Device) that can adjust the power of artificial lens post-cataract surgery. This device enables improved vision in patients when not using glasses and allows for correction of up to 2 diopters of post-op sphere and/or -0.75 to -2 diopters of residual post-op refractive cylinder. Cataract is an age-related condition in which the lens of the eye becomes clouded, resulting in blurred vision. Every year, 3.5 million patients undergo cataract surgery in India.
