Stroke remains one of the most devastating of all neurological diseases. According to the WHO, by the year 2020, stroke will remain as the second leading cause of death along with ischemic heart disease. Stroke is associated with multiple risk factors. Reports suggest that over 85% of all strokes are of ischemic origin, occurring mainly due to thrombotic or embolic blockage of a cerebral artery.
