A boy had brought a pregnancy test kit for his girlfriend. In washroom, he poured a drop of his urine on pregnancy test kit. It showed a picture as observed in pregnancy test positive. He can't be pregnant. This information was shared on social media for fun sake. A doctor advised that boy to go to his GP to rule out Testicular cancer.
That boy was diagnosed with testicular cancer. Rational Basis : In pregnant Woman HCG secreted by placenta is responsible for positive pregnancy in a test kit. In Testicular cancer, there is also secretion of HCG which causes positive pregnancy test. Clinical relevance : This test cannot be used as a screening test for Testicular cancer because only minority of patients have sufficient levels of HCG detected by home urine test.
