Long-term conditions will become the leading cause of disability by 2020 and the most expensive problem for healthcare systems in both developed and developing countries (WHO).Elderly population with co morbidity needing medical intervention will escalate and with the increasing antibiotic resistant infections we will have no options to treat. The most important factor leading to antibiotic resistance is use/misuse/overuse of antibiotics. Preserving their usefulness will require cooperation.
We need to make effort to raise awareness of the threat of antibiotic resistance and the importance of appropriate prescribing and use. How to get compliance in practice ?
