As per the proposal of National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC), the government of India has finally decided to cap the price of stents, an essential life-saving device that was priced exorbitantly. It is expected the price listing and other final formalities will be done by the end of January 2016. More than 70-80% of medical devices and implants including some required for critical care used in India are imported. Over the last couple of years, many patients' organizations, political parties as well as government departments have raised concern over the high price of stents.
