Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder whose incidence rate has increased over the years. The incidence rate of DM makes it be a global epidemic and the number is expected to get doubled by the year 2030. The prevalence rate of diabetes among the Dubai Emirates accounts for about 19%, whereas the total number of pre-diabetic cases and undiagnosed cases account for about 18.6% and 11% respectively, among the entire Emirati population.
