Gujarat government has refrained all medical officers working under its health department from using Artemether and Lumefantrine drug to cure patients with malaria. The government took this decision after the side effect of these two drugs were reported. The state government also stated that the doctors should not prescribe Artemether and Lumefantrine for falciparum malaria and other infections.
The state government also cited the letter and email received from the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme, New Delhi, which states that the two drugs should not be used.
