The Union Health Ministry has instructed physicians from all states to implement 157 Standard Treatment Workflows (STWs) covering 28 specialties to ensure uniform standards of care and rational use of essential medicines and diagnostics. The Ministry has sent letters to states, union territories, and NMC regarding this. ICMR developed these STWs with the help of experts across the country. They consist of one-pager documents designed to guide physicians practicing at various levels of healthcare, from primary to tertiary hospitals. Notably, these documents are available on the ICMR’s website and as a mobile app.
