smoking and hemorrhoids :a remarkable factor in aggravating the grade of hemorrhoids or not? I recently saw a case in which patient is chronic smoker , used to take alcoholand left it 10 yrs back, now landed up with severe anemia that could not be justified to have been caused due to excessive blood loss as nothing evident came out in any of the investigations. Finally patient has been treated by hemorrhoidectomy.
I have been curious to confirm the aetiology of this particular illness episode in this patient as chronic smoking is the only possible factor that can worsen the condition of this patient as per the knowledge I could gain. Please provide our expert opinions as this will surely benefit towards a change in scenario related to policy in medical healthcare sector as well as health and treatment sector.
