Mr R K wants to know why he was not identified as being at high risk for CHD before he suffered his myocardial infarction? Mr RK is a 41 yr old man who has been relatively fit & fine for the last 20 yrs during which he rarely visited his family Physician. Two weeks ago he was admitted to Hospital ----having suffered Myocardial Infarction. His brother died at the age of 18 yrs in a road accident & his father died of CHD at the age of 52 yrs.
Physical Examination revealed a corneal arcus & tendon. Xanthomas. Biochemistry--1Total cholesterol 7.8 mmol /Lit, HDLC - 0.9mmol /L Triglycerides - 2.3mmol /L. Cardiac specific troponinT 0.2 micrograms /l.
