Union Health minister, J P Nadda stated that, Twenty-two new AIIMS are coming up across the country under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana to reduce regional imbalance in the healthcare and tertiary fields”. This decision was taken to ensure the highest standards of medical education, which is a top priority for the government. Health minister admitted that there is a shortage of skilled human resources in the health sector in almost all the levels, therefore the Center has planned for a rapid expansion of medical education.
He also mentioned that, medical education forms the apex of the healthcare pyramid, and it is the quality of graduating doctors and specialists that would determine the quality of services in the country for future generations.
