A 31-year-old dentist from Hyderabad is in a coma after reportedly being given inappropriate injections at a Shaikpet clinic. She had gone there for abdominal pain, diarrhea, and a sore throat, and her family stated that they had clearly informed the doctor about her penicillin allergy. Despite this, she was administered Monocef and soon began showing signs of an allergic reaction, including redness, itching, and bluish discoloration of the lips. The doctor then administered Avil and Hydrocort, but she collapsed within 30 seconds and went into cardiac arrest.

Instead of calling an ambulance, the clinic sent her to a Gachibowli hospital in an autorickshaw. By the time she arrived, she was unresponsive and without a pulse, and doctors diagnosed a hypoxic brain injury due to prolonged lack of oxygen. She remains on ventilatory support in the ICU.
