Hyperinsulinemia, a metabolic condition linked to insulin resistance, may be associated with abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) in reproductive-aged women, with body mass index (BMI) potentially influencing this relationship. To explore this association, a study has evaluated the link between hyperinsulinemia and biomarkers of metabolic syndrome in 205 premenopausal women, aged 18-54 years, with abnormal uterine bleeding, considering the role of body mass index. The study found that hyperinsulinemia significantly predicted abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) (odds ratio (OR)=3.009).

However, adding BMI to the model reduced this association, indicating possible overlapping or mediating mechanisms.
